Al quarto successo in carriera contro un top 10, il tennista ligure ha archiviato la pratica con il punteggio di 6-4, 7-5 in poco meno di due ore di gioco. Per la prima volta in carriera al terzo turno a Indian Wells, Arnaldi affronterà lunedì uno tra Nakashima e Hijikata.
